Monthly Favourites: December 2014
December 31, 2014
It's finally the last day of 2014. The day almost everybody is looking forth to, ain't it? Believe some of us find 2014 a //bad year, but for me, it was a year filled with experiences! Let me share the favourites of this month!
Philips Compact Care (1100W) Hair Dryer - I only started using it because one fine night when I was about to blow dry my hair, I dropped my previous Philips hairdryer (which has served my family, mostly me for many years). So that's the story on why I started using it. It's less powerful than my previous hairdryer, so my hair takes a longer to dry, but that's okay. The Philips Compact Care is as demure as it looks, it doesn't produce much sound as well (while on Cool and warm mode), has 3 modes: Cool Air, Warm and Warmer/Hot. I use Warm and Cool Air mode most of the time because the Strongest mode made the hairdryer sounds scary. So uh-uh, not going to use it. This is the hair dryer that I will bring over to Brisbane as well, love its shade of Peach.
Pond's Age Miracle Face & Neck Lifting Day Cream (SPF 30 PA +++) - I know you must be wondering where that holygrail sunscreen of mine went to... Fret not, I still enjoy using Bioessence's Moisturising Cream. I only switched it up because I got lazy, usually before Bioessence's sunscreen, I would put on a thin layer of moisturiser, but I got way too lazy that I decided that I wanted to forgo that moisturiser step, so I used a lifting day cream with SPF.
Soule's Smile Black Slippers and Soule Shades (UV 400 Protection) - Favourite purchase this month! Singapore started up social enterprise from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Slippers and Shades for a good cause. Every purchase you make will in turn help those in poverty or recovering from natural disasters! Bringing this set over to Brisbane to meet the beaches and coasts. UV 400 to help block off UVA and UVB rays!
Belif's First Aid Overnight Brightening Mask - Though it's just a sample pack, it has make me trust the brand. I was expecting it to be sticky and stuff because it states "overnight" and overnight mask packs tend to be more thick and sticky. But this is sooooo Good! It absorbs relatively quickly, leaving almost no trace. I even used it as a moisturiser in the day.
Vitas Scalp Shampoo and Scalp Conditioner - Shampoo smells like cough syrup, but man it works, head feels cool and clean after every wash! & I really love the conditioner, SCALP CONDITIONER. Yes, a Conditioner you can use it on a scalp without fearing snowfall (dandruffs). I'm really going to bring a bottle of this to Brisbane! It's like 2 in 1, you can condition your scalp and your hair.
Rushing to type this post out as I am going to watch SBS Drama Awards 2014 Live. For the past few years,I have been "counting down" watching Korean Drama Awards Ceremonies.
That's all, See you peeps next year, I mean tomorrow since it's 2015!

Had such an impulse or rather an urge to buy cosmetics recently. The kind of make up I like is the "have make up but look like got no make up finish look". Products featured in this post were handpicked, purchased and tried by me (not sponsored okay, my pocket hurts a little). This will be a general sharing/review post. I will leave down the links on where I purchased them online.

Buy: IOPE Air Cushion Blusher!

I would say I quite like the consistency of this primer, because it's so different from my other primers. It's consistency is like moisturiser/light cream which makes application very easy. Got it in Moisture variant (it comes in Velvet and Glow too), because if I happen to be air-con a lot, my skin will get drier very quickly and it will show through my make up. So, I guess with this, my suffering will be reduced. Will try it for a longer time and see how well it works. Have only used it a couple of times so far. I bought it online, but lord the delivery took so long. Not sure how much this retails in physical stores. Anyone knows? Let me know.
Buy: The Face Shop's Moisture Fitting Primer !
& finally, Belleme Cosmetics products!

Posted this photo on my Instagram awhile ago, so you might find this photo familiar. I picked out 2 products from a rather not very known brand, or which a relatively new brand. I would really applaud this new brand for having such funky, cutesy products. I mean just look at these products packaging. I am an absolute sucker for products with unique packaging and designs. &! they have very unique names for the products and their color shades. I would say it is on par as creative as OPI's naming.
01. It's not very searchable on Google
02. Product line is still small and limited
03. I have never heard of it before

So the first product from BelleMe Cosmetics that I want to share is the 24/7 I Need Moisture Lipbalm. The polka dot doodle design reminds me of Topshop's Blush. Very simple, yet at the same time being unique.

This lipbalm has a very strong peachy scent and gives a very natural sheer tint of pink to my lips. What I like is that it isn't as sticky as any other lipbalms I have used. I get very annoyed when strands of hair sticks to my lips due to the sticky formula. Well, since it is less sticky, it seem to be a little less moisturising, but it is more lightweight than most lipbalms out there in the market. It contains jojoba oil and shea butter!

The next and last product from BelleMe Cosmetics is their Tik Tak Tok Skin Cushion. Soon, you will know why it is called 'Tik Tak Tok'. This base cushion product currently comes in 1 shade - Natural Glow.

Packaging is so cute. I like "hand drawn" designs a lot. I got drawn to this product partly because of it. I was looking for a base cushion product that has light coverage because I don't really have much skin complex (or I'm over confident about my skin) and a lot of them available now are like medium coverage which makes my make up VERY OBVIOUS and my face look fake. Told ya I was going for the "have make-up look like no make-up" finish. But I really do have less zits and complexes compared to people my age.
Watch the product video below, and you will know the meaning behind 'Tik Tak Tok'.

For 1 product, you get 3 different designs! The original sticker (the one with finger) is by default and if you get sick of it, you can change to the other 2 designs. You may even stick your own stickers on it and customise it to your liking.
It comes with an air cushion puff as well & the size is exactly same as Etude's (which is same as laneige etc). Scent wise, very similar to Etude's Magic Any Cushion in Peach. I tried Etude's MAC sample and I am on a love-hate r/s with it. Some days, I look okay with it, some days not really.

This is how you "pump" the product out. May not be very hygienic but well, before you use any makeup I assume most of us will wash our hands cleanly and that only your thumb is needed. But another downside is that it doesn't has a refill yet and I'm not sure if the design allows a refill pot.
It does its job though, giving subtle glow to my skin, but not making it look overly oily. But, if you are the kind that is quite concern about the glow, I think dusting a little compact powder on areas that tend to be more oily will counter it. I went out on a almost full day errand the other day but did not use my compact powder at all yet I still don't look "soaked in oil", more of healthy looking skin. But, I might give IOPE Air Cushion XP a try as well (maybe end of this year), because it is highly raved, and it seems quite good compared to other brands.

These are now my To-Go Make-up Routine. Less is more I guess. Will definitely stock them up or try new cushions before I head to Australia (damn, I will miss all the skincare and cosmetics). & these are only available in Korea itself/online, so I better make plans to stock them up this December.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and learnt more about of an unheard of cosmetic brand. & this is my to-go, fuss-free make up routine. Super effortless.
Till the next time, stay happy!

I know it's still a long time before we start a whole new year - 2015. But, I am already prepared for it, customised a calendar with my favourite korean idol so I can survive my days in Brisbane. #Motivation
I stumbled onto SNAPS.SG while googling for calendar customisation service. I would say it has one of the best quality & affordable services. They do photoprints and photobooks as well. I did photoprints too, but it will only come end of the month due to their SOP of mass printing all orders on a one time basis then sending them out. Will blog about it again when I receive it.
I'm very satisfied with my calendar! You get to customise EACH MONTH. & Each month has 2 'styles' - one with just the dates and days, the other in the conventional calendar style (dates in boxes, so you can write/draw etc). & they have so many templates!

Apologise for the lack of updates, constantly being tied down by work and lessons. It's getting more and more tiring each day, have another product to share about :) Might work for girls who face problems such as oily skin.
Previously I have tried the other products from BeautyBiotics Dream Cream Series, and this time, I was offered to try out a cleanser from the same range. I was impressed previously, so I took the chance and opportunity to put this cleanser to the test.
Collagen Cleanse is said to be a unique foaming facial cleanser that deeply cleanses skin and unclogs pores. The crystal powders are water activated to foam and contain nano-collagen that helps hydrate skin, regenerate collagen and elastin leaving skin clean, balanced and revitalized.
It's quite amazing that the powder when in contact with water would foam up quite densely. Photo may look little, but it's actually enough for the entire face.
After trying out for multiple times, I would say that this cleanser does not really work for me as I have dry skin, so what this cleanser does is that it cleanse, but has the squeaky clean effect which hence made my skin a little more dry, especially the areas near my nose.

Also, smell wasn't that pleasant (to me, it's my own opinion). It's pleasant when it is in the powder form and after mixing with water, it smells a little weird and fishy like some collagen products out in the market. Or maybe it is just me and my sensitive nose. I am very particular about smell. Not my cup of tea, so wouldn't buy it in future but the other products I tried previously were really good. I am still using them! BUT this cleanser helped to brighten my skin tone!
So this is how it works:
Powder/Crystals form -> Mixing it with water
& FOAMS!
