Fresh Face

February 1, 2015

Did you hear the Church bell ring? It's 1st February, congrats on surviving the first month of 2015. Finally, this new layout that you're seeing is ready to meet the world. Spent about a couple of weeks finding web resources and the final inspiration for a spanking new layout. Initially, I had wanted to keep to the monochrome x minimalist style/theme that I had before but finally settled for something more light-hearted, chill and radiant. Decided on the following colours: Coral, Peach, Dark Grey and a few other colours you can spot in my new layout. Wanted something I can feel happy looking at it instead of receiving a serious, structured feel. Let me know if you like this new feeling. Not a bad choice/decision right?

The process of having to look at html codes, editing them and creating new blog header and small little details in this little space almost drove me crazy. Many times I had forgotten to save the codes and had to redo it or otherwise, messed the codes too much that it went haywire. Another problem was photoshop, because I got a new laptop, and it's so high resolution that it's 3200 x 1800 pixels and freaking photoshop tools/toolbar appear so tiny on my screen. Guess I will have to do photoshop on my older laptop which is not so high resolution for the comfort of my eyes. Had to bear with it for the past few weeks (did try to magnify, but it's not helping when I need to see if the image is sharp enough).

Despite all that, I'm so in love with my new laptop!  It's of a very sleek design, comes in the chicest shade of rosy champagne (because of the metallic sheen, it appears way darker than in real life). On top of these, it has a touch-screen monitor which sometimes can make things a little easier: Instead of redirecting your mouse cursor, all you need is a touch on the screen.

Go ahead and navigate around the blog, let me know what you like about it (just comment or tweet me) and what you hope to see (that isn't here on the blog). Some parts of the blog are still under construction, will finalise those parts once I settle down in Brisbane. Eg. Skincare tab right at the top, it would eventually lead you to a whole list of beauty products I use regularly etc., & it may change overtime so do check that page out every other few months to see if I have a new favourite/routine (I'll try to hint if there's any in my blog posts). Brisbane Tab would show all posts related to Brisbane life (which is almost every other entry starting from 8th Feb, okay maybe this tab ain't a good idea, if you have a better suggestion, do state it). Also, please don't mind the newly updated 'About' page, I pre-edited it because I would be too lazy to do it when I get to Brisbane.

Do read my blog on mobile devices as well. It's a responsive layout, hoping to make it easier to read contents of my blog on different devices. Don't forget to let me know how it looks on your device (do state what device you are using). The mobile layout has a slightly different from a desktop view. Have only tested it out on iPhone 4, Asus Zenfone 5 and Desktop, but I have used an online tool – a Responsinator. It shows how a certain site would look like on various mobile devices. I am aware the "Search" page is not perfect on mobile, so let's just agree to just live with it, life's meant to have some flaws.

Just fell in love with this Valore multi-port usb station because it can read my MicroSD memory card of my Samsung NX Mini. I prefer the traditional way of transferring images onto my laptop instead of over a wifi/internet connection to do a backup and then retrieve my images from the folder. My MicroSD would sit nicely in that gap above the red led light (TF Port). I got this from Challenger for free the other day when I bought my external disc drive and a new wireless mouse.

I'm still busy doing some final packing because my luggage were still overweight. So, it's a really intense fight of Want vs. Need. My clothes are taking up a whole lot space and weight. To get more updates, do follow me on twitter/instagram (@mikomxy) & on Dayre (@xmiko). Will try dayre often for little daily encounters. Till the next time I blog, would be when I have settled down in Brisbane!

For my Singaporean friends who are reading this & might want to send me off at the airport, here are the details: SQ235, Terminal 3. I should be entering the departure gate at 8.30PM, so do catch me before that. I will loiter outside the departure area from 8PM. Don't get me any gifts, because my baggage is a burden and I'm maxing out my carry-on allowance already. Your presence is enough!
