Camp Apex and newly found friends.

July 18, 2014

My scholarship provider MOHH sent the new batch of scholars for Camp Apex which took place at Pulau Ubin for 3Days and 2Nights. The camp was one of a kind. It was different from other camps I had.

Went through all the easy and difficult challenges with camp group mates, which on the camp day was only the 2nd time we met, and for some, the first (because they could not make it to the pre-camp briefing).

Just going to share some of activities (not in full details).

One of the hardest challenge for Day 1. Stacking 3 Golf Balls vertically (one ontop of the other) without it falling. The other challenging activity was during the night, when it was almost pitch dark, completing a 300 pieces puzzle with the help of only ONE YELLOW Glowstick. But mid-way, they allowed us to use torchlights, and the process was so much faster. Talk about the importance of light in our lives.

Then... We cooked lunch from scratch. Ingredients were bought via a point system (we gain points from finishing activities fastest, or just completing them).

Me testing out cooked rice, not the best white rice... our cooking skills improved when it was dinner and meals for the next day. Best combination: TUNA + WHITE RICE. & Maggi Mee was such a luxury, damn yummy.

I enjoyed the camp though we couldn't bathe AT ALL. we did powder bath and used wet wipes. Thank god for wearing long tights, Miko has like only 1 small mozzie bite. The rest had like quite a few bites. Did not managed to get much quality sleep because it was SO WARM in the tent. But on 2nd night, we all knocked out due to fatigue from walking for almost an entire day all throughout Pulau Ubin.

Us doing our group cheer for the last time before we officially break camp. Shirts are our scholar tees! Everyone has one :)

Oh! and our group won Best Mascot Award during campfire night. Though we were Gorillaz... our Mascots were PPG, but we didn't want ppl to know about PPG, and we thought of Pink Purple Gorillaz, but then just settled with Gorillaz. HAHAs.

Friendships forged during the camp did not end, we are like overly attached friends. Meeting whenever there is time.

We had Induction Programme this week. & we had Swee Choon for dinner on Day1 of induction and ended the night off with lepak session at McD. Photos are up on instagram! :)

Then on Day 2, we ended earlier and headed for desserts at Chinatown before our Frog Leg Porridge Dinner! We can spend up to 2-3 hours at a shop, i think 1 hr for eating, and the rest were just us talking.

Nicest bunch of people. Though we had people of different ages. So glad that we may see and work together for the public health sector in the near future!!

Hope Makan Dates will never end.
