Its the Bird's Nest!

New Moon Superior Bird's Nest with Collagen & Rock Sugar

Have always thought about how Bird's Nest taste like! I ate a bottle before my semester exams started to chill myself down, and again just yesterday cause i was craving for it. Being a Nutrition, Health and Wellness Student in Singapore Polytechnic, i shall share some tips on how you should search for food items and how to read labels and information on them!

Information stated on the package/box:
Made from superior grade 100% genuine bird's nest. It is an ideal food supplement for all ages. Collagen is added to further enhance the natural goodness of the bird's nest. New Moon Superior Bird's Nest with Collagen & Rock Sugar is prepared according to traditional simmering process under modern and strictly controlled methods. It can be consumes directly from the bottle, chilled or warmed, according to individual preferences.

Ingredients: Water, Bird's Nest, Rock Sugar, Bovine Collagen, Permitted Stabilisers.

Tip #01: Water & Bird's Nest are in the highest concentration in the product. Ingredients are always printed/placed in order of their concentration and relative amount.

What's Good ? : New Moon Superior Bird's Nest with Collagen & Rock Sugar has ONLY 0.2g fat & 0g saturated fat! Saturated fats are the ones that contributed to all the diseases and chronic illness: Heart failure, clogged up blood vessels etc. Google 'Saturated Fat' to see associated health risks. It also has 0 cholesterol!

Do you know ? : Our body make our own cholesterol! Bile contains cholesterol, bile is that yellowish/greenish liquid that your liver produces and is stored in the gall bladder and plays a part in emulsifying fat molecules for digestion. Google 'Cholesterol' to find out more. And Do You Know Cholesterol is only found in animal products? Plant products contain another type of sterol.

Tip #02: Some of you think and take too much into consideration about Propaganda that a company can have to promote its own product and feels/thinks that the information printed on the product/food item might be untrue. So, i want to justify this after i learnt from my lecturer that ONLY TRUE, FACTUAL Information can be printed on a product. Propaganda/Food Fads(exaggerated info: CURE, MIRACLE etc) is usually found in promotional resources such as Magazines, Newspaper & other types of media.

The above product tasted not bad, doesn't have weird taste or smell which i initially thought it would have. If it had smell/taste that i dislike, i would not have taken it the 2nd time. Pleasant product. I had it chilled since the weather was hot, need something to cool myself down.

Moving on, have you ever heard of the poor man's Bird's Nest is actually White Fungus? Both health food products have actually very similar functions and health benefits. I was watching a taiwan ladies show talking about skincare products and health food, and it also mentioned Bird's Nest VS White Fungus. My mum always tell me that white fungus is to 润肺 or in english to strengthen your respiratory system. White fungus is LOVED, like the crunchy-ness + its health benefits, always like it in herbal soups or herbal dessert. Both herbal stuff just taste so nice and yummy. One reason i've gathered from friends/peers why they don't eat white or black fungus is that: THEY ARE FUNGUS, i'm like...they are edible with benefits and they don't taste very weird, they rarely have any taste. its the same reason they gave me when i asked them why they dislike Mushrooms.

From that taiwanese variety/lifestyle tv programme: i learnt that Bird's Nest is just so DIFFERENT because it is found to help stimulate the process of the cell formation. Rejuvenation of your cells in short? Unlike white fungus which doesn't have such a function. But still both contains collagen, just that the relative concentration/amount are different, so both are good for your skin! And in fact, both texture is VERY SIMILAR, the crunchy-ness.

Just in case if you're wondering that whether am i rich/loaded, the answer is N-O, NO! I just happen to have 5 bottles of Bird's Nest at home as my dad brought it back from his company lucky draw or something, and no one touched them, not even my mother, so i just took them and ate them.

Hope you people enjoyed reading this post, THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTORIAL! and maybe learn a little bit of info here and there :) If you have any questions(need not relate to any of my posts), do formspring me, formspring link can be found under 'contact/help'.
