It's crunch time now! I am halfway through my examinations with just 2 more papers to go. With this semester ending, I am starting to ponder quite a bit, and here are some thoughts I have.
I've learnt to stop chasing grades, simply because in future, NONE of my patients that I would be helping will know my grades, neither would they be interested. What matters most is how I am going to treat them and how I am as a person. Grades don't show who are you as a person. This, however does not mean that I give up on good grades, it's more of just aiming for what I think is enough. After all, education is a learning process. I could be a straight 7s (that's the max GPA here) student, but suck at practical and handling patients, patients are annoyed by my skills or I could be a slightly better than average 5/6s student, know my practical stuff well, know how to handle my patients, and most importantly, loved by my patients.
Furthermore, I believe my GPA gets reset when I hit Year 4 (in another 1.5 years). So what's the point if I did all so well and it gets reset, and have to restart, and Year 4 is a year based on your placements (aka attachment/internship). Also, we need to GET A LIFE. That means, stop chasing grades so aggressively. It's okay to have set backs, bad grades once in awhile. It happens, things happen. No one is flawless. If you are flawless in your grades, I could say you could flaw in your character. Be someone who brings positivity to others and not a snobbish grade-seeking fella.
What I miss most now is having a Co-curricular Activity. I used to be in the sports team back in poly. It was one the best times. I think CCA really brings out the real you, and for the short few hours, you get complete freedom, not worrying about school and just doing what you love.
Don't worry, Be Happy! Even if it's bad, accept it and move on, don't harp on what has been done. It does you no good and only brings negative vibes out of everyone. That is why, I don't discuss my answers after any papers. Let me ask you a question: What's the purpose of discussing? Will it affect your final grade? Do you get a second chance to do the paper?NO! So, just forget about everything regarding the exams, move on, I'm sure that's not the only paper you have. Direct all this energy you have for curiosity (about getting right/wrong answers, trying to see how others did) to your preparation for your next paper.
