2014 Resolutions.
January 1, 2014
Spent the last few hours of 2013 watching a Korean drama awards show. Ending it on a happy note because my favourite actors have won numerous awards. Seeing them work so hard do bring some thoughts that I should continue to work hard and also bring happiness to my loved ones as much as I can.
1. Pick up a new language
As mentioned in my previous blog entry, it is likely that I would be picking up the Korean language properly, in an education centre. I really hope I can hold on to this "life goal" though I am bound to face difficulty in learning a new language as I have always wanted to read Hangul (korean wordings) easily without relying on the unreliable google translate, and also to watch Korean shows even without subtitles. The only goal for myself is to complete the Basic Level, which would roughly take half a year I believe. My current level of korean is just mediocre, super beginner that I only know phrases and nouns, verbs but I have no idea how to string them into a proper sentence.
2. Learn Baking
I love cookies, tarts and other baked foods, but I have NO IDEA how to do them. However, I am very excited to learning baking ON MY OWN. Yes, I will get an oven (my house doesn't has one at all) and ingredients, and by practising more I hope that this skill would help in my future dream of owning a cafe. & with nutrition knowledge, I will want to modify current recipes and also come up with my own recipes so that it becomes a healthier choice for everyone! Stay healthy in 2014!
3. Save more money
I would have to say that I am pretty bad at saving money at times, especially when I see something that I like. But in 2013, I have give myself a pat on the back of practising the thoughts "Do I really need this? How many times will I wear/use it?" when I see something I "want" and before buying. Likely to be working on event-based due to my desire in doing My Basic Korean Class on a Part Time Basis (twice a week) and obviously a 5-day work week won't be of any help. & of course to save some extra money since I'm likely to be studying overseas. Having spare money acts as a safety net if anything happens /choy!/
4. Have a better temper
I have a strong personality and it comes with a bad temper. I will try my best, but no guarantee as not everyone deserve me to be kind towards them, especially when I have endured most of their nonsense. But I would like to treat my family and friends better (hopefully).
5. Lose some extra pounds
Have been in a very sedentary lifestyle ever since 3rd year of poly started and especially so during my internship. Hopefully, I will be more active and lose some weight, mainly reducing the amount of fats at my core area and I will be contented. I would want to play more team sports, but its hard to get everyone out on the same day, same time.
I think that's about it. Having too many resolutions isn't that good after all as I feel that I would lose focus and forget why I had started on something. So just 5 would be enough.
